Polyfloat® | Polyfloat® Process

Pure plastics

Whenever it comes down to a real precise plastic separation the density-based Polyfloat®-Process is the choice. Polyfloat® is the leading technology for the separation of different types of polymers (e.g. PVC, ABS/PS or Polyolefines) which differ in their specific density.

With Polyfloat® you are able to achieve a product purity of more than 99 % at highest yields. The secret lies in the innovative lamella separation system which eliminates the air bubble effect of traditional wet separation technology. Combined with high-precision working process control equipment, Polyfloat® sets a new quality standard for plastic recovery

Key Facts

    • Works on hard plastics, flakes and film
    • Systems of 1 t/h up to 7 t/h available
    • Automatic density control and adjustment
    • Highest process reliability leads to stable product qualities
    • Recovery of density media agent for less operational cost

      The Process

The input stream is fed into a mashing tank where the plastics are mixed with the density media agent. There are different media agents available depending on the sorting task. After mixing the plastics are pumped into the separation tank where the light particles are separated from the heavies.

Both materials are then discharged to a mechanical drying step in order to get a dry product and to regain the density agent for further use in the separation process. A humidity analyzer can be added to the material outlets for continuous control.

In a separate solving tank the density media agent is prepared and automatically dosed to the separation process controlled by an online density analyzer.

Even for film and flakes Polyfloat® can be adapted by using scrapers for light- and heavy fraction discharge.

By adding a SICON washing line in front of Polyfloat® your plastics are prepared in the right way to achieve the best separation results you have ever seen.

Polyfloat® makes your recovery plant more productive, more flexible and more secure.
